This was a test with my new photo/trailer rig that was designed and built by my good friend Lor Izzard and me. I was more of the concept guy, while he was the head engineer, welder, and boss. Well, now that I think about it, Lor built this as I watched. This was the photo rig’s maiden voyage, and I think it was a success. We managed to get it down from the trailer, and break it apart before being struck by lightening.

My son and I took a trip to West Virginia a couple of weeks ago to ride some of the Hatfield and McCoys Trail system. We got to go with some of my friends who live there and they ordered up chamber of commerce weather. I decided to attach my GOPRO wide camera on the front of the four wheeler I borrowed from Rusty. With the shutter set to open every 5 seconds I put together a small time elapse video, set to the music of House Of Pain, “Jump Around“, 1992 (old school). Also a small collection of the images from the video.

I just got back from a quick three day weekend in Las Vegas. I went to scout for an upcoming photo shoot and well for fun, its Vegas. Every time On my prior visits while walking the strip you cant help but stop and watch the dancing water at Bellagio. For me this means I have to fight the crowd to see, height issue. This time I decided to stop and get a photograph of the performance in HDR. After a small wait, and the sun starting to drop in the sky, I was able to get to the front and took this.

I was in the small town of Darien Georgia over this past weekend. As we traveled down the famed HWY 17 this scene emerged from atop the bridge. As the sky threatened and i ran back up the bridge, tripod and shutter cord in tow, and got in position. About five minutes later the storm had completely covered the shrimp boats and this beautiful vista.

I have been taking a lot of HDR images of late downtown in Savannah. I have been walking by the fountain almost daily wondering when I’d be able to get the image I want. With the Azaleas in full bloom and tourist season upon Savannah it is sometimes very hard to get around the fountain with a clear shot. Well at last I got my chance. The Azaleas are still out and the trees are in full green.

Looking over the city of Savannah you really can not imagine a better designed urban space. From this vantage point you can see the church steeples sprouting through the canopy of oaks and sweet gum trees. This shot was only made possible because the best assistant in the world got me access to this great location. I can not thank her enough for this. As the sun slipped behind the horizon I took one last photo before we started our decent back to the ground. With a couple of chairs, a warm blanket, and some wine, I could have stayed there all night.

There is no better time or place in the world to walk than downtown Savannah, GA. With Azaleas in full bloom you get lost in the rich bright colors that nature has created. Though the blooms are short lived, you really get a sense of how magical of a time the spring is in Savannah. This is a HDR picture of the statue of William Jasper on Madison Square.

This, for those that don’t know, is the Tybee Island Georgia Lighthouse. I decided for my Christmas card this year I would concentrate on holiday scenes from the local Savannah area. Years past I have always tried to find snow and water from my home state of West Virginia. This scene was done in the early winter skies this time of year while looking for a decorated dock. I love going to Tybee and smelling the salt air, especially when no one is there. As Buffett once said “I’m turning off the waterfall the tourists can go home “.

The Cuthbert House is the finest Bed and Breakfast in Beaufort, SC. As I told you before staying there and watching the sunset during happy hour was an unbelieveable experience. I came back just to take a picture of this beautiful place. If you dont believe me, find out for yourself, here.

I was lucky enough to travel up to Beaufort, SC and stay in the Cuthbert House Bed and Breakfast a couple of weeks ago. From the front porch of this gorgeous home you will see the perfect sunset. I went back to photograph this view because i think it is has to be the best on Bay street, if not in Beaufort. Oh and if you decide you want to stare at the view yourself, I highly recommend staying there. Jeff, the owner and gracious host, provides you with the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the city.
